WELCOME TO PEWSEY METHODIST CHURCH

Our Sunday Worship services start at 10:30am

Pewsey Methodist Church lies in the centre of the village of Pewsey. Our church celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024. Inclusivity is a vital part of the church, which is known for its warm welcome to all. Faith is at the heart of our worship and everything we do encourages people to grow in faith and to share it with others.

The premises have been extensively refurbished and are well used by the local community, who also feel very welcome here. We have good ecumenical links within the village through Pewsey Churches Working Together (Methodist, Anglican and Catholic) with shared activities (particularly around Easter and the Pewsey Carnival).

We use projection during our services and the sound system includes a hearing loop. Our notices are on a printed sheet which includes the order of service and pastoral notes. There is an Offertory plate on entry to the chapel as we no longer take up a collection during the service.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served in the chapel after the service when there is plenty of time to socialise with our friendly congregation.

Our Communion services are open to all who attend and is served to the congregation in their seats. The communion wine is alcohol free and we can provide gluten free wafers if required.

Please feel free to join us as you will be guaranteed a warm welcome.

"We seek to be a caring community of Christians reaching out to all with the love of Christ."

My name is Rev Stephen Skinner and I am living in Marlborough with my wife, Jane, and younger daughter, Hannah. Jane and I have four children and five grandchildren. Naomi and Joel family are living in Bradfield, near Reading, with their children, Louis and Francis, Estelle and Raphael; Thomas and Lilly are in Torquay and have Renata who was born last November; and Peter and Michelle are in Boston, Massachusetts.

Before coming to Wiltshire, we lived in Broadstairs, Kent on the Isle of Thanet. We were there for thirteen years and I was superintendent of the Thanet Circuit before it became part of the Canterbury and East Kent Circuit. I began my ministry in the Liskeard and Looe Circuit in Cornwall in 1990 after training at Wesley College, Bristol. I have also served in the Worthing, (Sussex); and Dover and Deal, (Kent), Circuits. I grew up in rural Devon in a farming community where life revolved round the seasons and the chapel.

I am pleased to be here in this part of the North Wiltshire Circuit and look forward to getting to know people, worshipping, growing in faith and working together in the village and area.

  • In September 2008 our partnership with Christchurch Marlborough was expanded by the welcoming of Ramsbury and Aldbourne Methodist Churches into the partnership creating the Marlborough Section of the Swindon and Marlborough Circuit.

  • The original partnership was formed with the belief that we can work more effectively together as one organization and this has been further enhanced by the two new churches, all who are linked by sharing the same minister.

  • We are part of the North Wiltshire Methodist Circuit, which is in the Bristol District of the Methodist Church.
