Pewsey and Christchurch have been supporting this organisation for the last 11 years.
We do it in conjunction with the Pewsey and surrounding communities. We invite the church and community to come together to help wrap and fill the boxes with practical items for children of different ages.
This year on 19th November 2011 we all joined forces as a community to wrap and send 703 boxes.
View images from this event here.
These were then collected and transported to countries where basic materials are in short supply. In the last 11 years we have sent over 5500 boxes and with each box £2.50 was collected through donations to help with transport and distribution costs.

The care and thought with which this is done reflects the desire to do something to help children in places where materials such as soap and toothpaste are too expensive for families to buy. There are key workers from Samaritans Purse, the parent organisation, that help in the distribution to make sure the shoeboxes go to needy families. These key workers are based there all the year round to help meet the needs of the communities with which they are in contact. You can read more about the work of Samaritans Purse here.
See below for the complete list of items that we always need each year. Scarves, gloves and hats are always in short supply if you are a keen knitter!
Knitters may also want to view this years knitting patterns on the official Operation Christmas Child website.
We also have a pre-wrap day which will be announced here prior to next years event.
You are welcome to join with us to help to get shoe boxes wrapped and ready for filling on the Gift Wrap Day. We will provide you with wrapping paper and sellotape if required. Shoeboxes can also be provided if you prefer to wrap at home. Please phone or email Stephen below for more details.
If you would like to know more or would like to arrange to drop off items to fill boxes, please call Stephen Longson on 01672 563171 or email stephen.longson@btinternet.com

If you’ve never been to a Gift Wrap Morning at Pewsey Methodist, its a fun time, set out like a giant jumble sale with a packing production line to produce a Gift of Love to send to a Child in need. Follow the path around each table adding items to the empty shoe box you collected at the door as you entered. Click here to view images from previous Gift Wrap Days.
